Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression is like being scared and tired at the same time.  It is the fear of failure but having no motivation to be productive. Anxiety and depression is wanting friends but hating socializing. It is wanting to be alone but not wanting to be lonely. Let's talk about how hard it is to open up to someone about being sad for no reason. Let's talk about how hard it is to explain to your friends and family that you have this heavy feeling in your chest for no reason. Let's talk about how hard it is to understand why you're having a panic attack while just taking a walk back home. Let's talk about how hard it is to understand your own self and how scary it is to feel like the whole world is falling on your shoulders. Anxiety looks different on everyone but here are some "red flags" that you might be struggling with:

  • You find yourself worrying about anything and everything.

  • You end up in a "what if" rabbit hole and create scenarios in your head that would never happen.

  • You feel nervous or on edge.

  • You get sweaty, shaky, nauseous, and/or heart palpitations when you think about something stressful.

  • You actively avoid situations that make you nervous.

  • You struggle to fall and stay asleep because your brain won't stop thinking. 

  • Your tolerance for stress is lower and you get easily frustrated at others.

 
There is hope.

Anxiety can be addressed in many ways in therapy. We will fight against your anxiety monster any way we can. We will challenge thoughts that are irrational and make you anxious. We will work on finding new coping skills that help you feel more relaxed and at ease. We will find ways to live with anxiety without feeling like it is taking over your life.
